Recognizing highly engaged community-based research, creative activity, teaching, and service collaborations that positively impact both the community and scholarship

Each year, Michigan State University invites nominations for the Community Engagement Scholarship Award (CESA), conferred in recognition of exemplary engaged scholarship with a community partner(s).

One scholar and her/his partner(s) are recognized at the University’s annual Awards Convocation, where they share a stipend of $5,000.

Instructions and Forms

Faculty, administrators, colleagues, students, or community partners can initiate nominations; self-nominations are also welcome. It is expected that nominees will be aware of the nomination and will participate significantly in preparation of the application. Applications must be submitted to the dean or administrator of the nominee’s major administrative unit (MAU) to be forwarded for University-level consideration.

Visit the Office of the Provost website for application materials and instructions.
