Recognizing and honoring students for exemplary community-engaged scholarship during their years of graduate study

Each year, Michigan State University invites nominations for the Graduate Student Award for Community Engagement Scholarship, conferred in recognition of exemplary community-engaged scholarship by a graduate or graduate professional student.

One student will be selected as recipient of the Graduate Student Award for Community Engagement Scholarship annually and will receive a plaque to memorialize the accomplishment and a $750 stipend. Upon the recommendation of the Award selection committee, special commendations will be presented to other nominees who are deemed to warrant recognition for their outstanding contributions. Such nominees will receive a certificate and stipend of $250. The Award recipient and students receiving commendations will be formally recognized at the annual Michigan State University Outreach and Engagement Awards Ceremony.

This award program is jointly sponsored by the offices of the Associate Provost for University Outreach and Engagement and the Associate Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School.

Faculty, administrators, community partners, or peers may initiate nominations, and self-nominations are also welcome. It is expected that nominees will be aware of the nomination and will participate significantly in preparation of the nomination materials.
