Recognizing and honoring students for exemplary community-engaged scholarship during their years of graduate study

Each year, Michigan State University invites nominations for the Graduate Student Award for Community Engagement Scholarship, conferred in recognition of exemplary community-engaged scholarship by a graduate or graduate professional student.

Up to four students will be selected as recipients of the Graduate Student Award for Community Engagement Scholarship annually. Award recipients will receive a plaque to memorialize the accomplishment and a $750 stipend. Upon the recommendation of the award selection committee, special commendations may be presented to up to two other nominees who are deemed to warrant recognition for their outstanding contributions. Commendation recipients will receive a certificate and stipend of $250. Both the award and commendation recipients will be formally recognized at the annual Michigan State University Outreach and Engagement Awards Ceremony.

This award program is jointly sponsored by the office of the Associate Provost for University Outreach and Engagement and the MSU Graduate School.

Nomination Process

Faculty, administrators, community partners, or peers may initiate nominations. It is expected that nominees will be aware of the nomination and will contribution significantly in preparation of the nomination materials. Self-nominations are also welcome and especially encouraged.
