VPUOE staff regularly speak to MSU colleges and departments and other institutions on effective models of engagement. They address issues such as:
- Measuring and assessing faculty outreach and engagement
- Integrating engagement into the institutional structure
- Aligning the scholarship of engagement across institutions
UOE also participates in university-wide conversations regarding major cross-disciplinary initiatives, such as:
- Broader impacts of science
- Needs of 0-5 year-old children and their families
- Positive outcomes for children, youth, and families
- Land use and built environment
- Community and economic development
- Sustainable agriculture, food, and water safety
- Urban and regional development
- The Opioid crisis
- Public policy
Evidence-Based Models
VPUOE develops and disseminates models of evidence-based practice to resolve issues important to individuals, families, groups, neighborhoods, and communities. Evidence-based practice means using research to inform policy and practice. MSU advocates a scholarly model of outreach and engagement that fosters a reciprocal and mutually beneficial relationship between the University and the public.
Senior Fellows
The Senior Fellows make up an honorary advisory group, drawn from both the MSU campus and the community, who meet periodically with Dr. Brookins to advise on and discuss current issues of engagement. They represent a diversity of expertise and have a lifetime appointment to this group.
