Kathleen Smith is the chief of staff to the Vice Provost for University Outreach and Engagement. In this role, Smith provides comprehensive leadership on UOE's strategic and operational initiatives, with a holistic oversight on financial, HR, facility management, and other administrative activities.

 

Smith holds a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in Organization Administration frpm Central Michigan University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Davenport University, and a DEI certificate from Cornell University. She also holds an Enrolled Agent (EA) designation through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that credentials her to prepare tax returns for individuals and businesses. Smith is a member on the MI-Academic Council on Education (MI-ACE), the professional network for Michigan women in higher education, which works in concert with the national ACE Office of Inclusive Excellence Group to identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support (IDEALS) women in higher education. She currently serves on the MI-ACE executive board and co-chairs the membership and the finance committees.
