Explore the wonders of STEAM during MSU's Science Festival

EAST LANSING, MI (November 14, 2022) — Planning for the 11th annual Michigan State University Science Festival is underway! The festival will highlight free events in the STEAM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) throughout the month of April. This year, the festival is returning to hosting in-person events after solely being virtual from 2020-2021 and offering mainly virtual events with a limited number of in-person events in 2022.

“We’re excited to be back in-person and welcome learners of all ages to explore the wonders of STEAM programs,” said Science Festival coordinator, Katherine Hagman. “Providing an event that broadens access to educational opportunities and resources is so important, and we look forward to developing new partnerships for the upcoming year.”

Similar to past years, the Science Festival will feature popular programs like MSU Expo Days and Science in the Gardens while offering new programs designed to inspire students and community members alike, such as Sounds of Science, a night of musical performances inspired by the natural world.

“The Science Festival exists to promote science literacy and create opportunities for engagement with science and scientists in our communities,” said Dr. Laurie Van Egeren, interim associate provost for University Outreach and Engagement. “This month-long event raises awareness of the research, resources, and opportunities for STEAM right here at Michigan State University.”

As the festival depends on the generosity of sponsorships and donations, consider contributing to broaden access to educational experiences and ensuring that future Science Festival programs remain free and accessible to K12 students and community members across Michigan.
