EAST LANSING, MI —The Michigan State University Pre-College Committee hosted its first Pre-College Showcase since the pandemic, giving attendees an opportunity to share ideas and resources on how to better serve youth and future college students.
Sponsored by MSU’s Office of University Outreach and Engagement (UOE), the showcase highlighted the university’s collective efforts to inspire future Spartans by increasing access to educational opportunities.
Attendees and exhibitors represented colleges, programs, and departments across the university, underscoring the range of MSU’s efforts to expand pathways for young students to engage with the university and learn about various academic fields.
“The Pre-College Showcase created a meaningful space to connect with our partners across campus and facilitate collaborations,” said Elyse Aurbach, vice provost for UOE. “Opportunities like this help ensure MSU’s pre-college programs are accessible and positioned to support students as they begin to explore the possibilities in higher education.”
UOE departments and programs that participated as exhibitors included Gifted and Talented Education, Dual Enrollment, GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), and Upward Bound. Other participating MSU units included 4-H Animal and Veterinary Science Camp, College of Education – Office of Access and Community Engagement, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Education Abroad, Engineering, Graphic Takeover, Japan Center for Michigan Universities, Michigan 4-H Exploration Days, MSU Community Music School, MSU Youth Safety Education and Compliance, Multicultural Business Programs, STEM Fee Jr MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences), University Conference Services, WKAR, and the World Food Prize Youth Institute.
Attendees and interested partners are encouraged to save the date for next year’s showcase on October 5, 2026.
