Learners of all ages are invited to attend the 2025 MSU Science Festival throughout the month of April
EAST LANSING, MI —The 13th annual Michigan State University Science Festival released its full schedule of free events celebrating and exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Beginning April 1, and continuing throughout the month, community members are invited to attend events held on MSU’s campus and select sites throughout the state.
“We’re thrilled to be offering another year of educational opportunities rooted in the disciplines of STEAM for learners of all ages,” said Kwesi Brookins, vice provost for University Outreach and Engagement. “By providing a wide range of events led by experts in their respective areas—many of whom are MSU faculty, staff and graduate students—we hope to promote science literacy in communities across Michigan.”
This year, the festival will include new events like The Sounds of Science: Inspiring Connections, inviting participants to join researchers from the MSU Kellogg Biological Station and local musicians for a musical night of stories about the environment and interconnectivity; and the monthlong MSU SciFest Community Cleanup Challenge, asking community members to contribute to data on Michigan litter by picking up trash and documenting it in the Litterati app.
“Our goal with the Science Festival has always been to increase our communities’ curiosity in science,” said coordinator, Katherine Prokopchuk. “Whether you’re a lifelong science enthusiast or just beginning to explore, there’s something for everyone to experience, learn, and enjoy.”
On April 5-6, the festival welcomes the return of STEAM Expo days, featuring more than 100 hands-on activities, talks, and demonstrations at the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility on MSU’s campus. The Expo Days will include an Early Childhood Zone with activities and demonstrations for families with young children under 8 years old.
