Monday, February 26 - Wednesday, February 28, 2024
MSU Snyder Phillips Building (Zoom option also available)
Thinking about new writing and publishing goals in 2024? Feeling unsure of how to make time for writing or feeling a bit stretched thin by your commitments? Then, this three-day writing retreat is for you!
Choose how to participate. You may participate Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday—register for one or all of the days. You can choose between in-person and virtual options; you can also go between formats. In-person writers can choose between quiet and collaborative/chatty writing spaces.
Throughout the retreat, there will be daily check-ins, check-outs, and, when needed, consultations with staff from The Writing Center and University Outreach and Engagement. Connections will intentionally be built among the writers, so that even while you are writing your own pieces, you will feel like you are part of a supportive community.
Expectations:
You are expected to already have a writing project in mind and to bring along your own laptop, power cord, and writing materials. As much as possible, please try to protect this writing time. Past participants have cleared their schedules, put an out-of-office notice on their emails, and let their colleagues know that they will be busy those days.
Schedule:
The spring writing retreat will take place during the first three days of MSU spring break, February 26, 27, and 28, 2024. Each day will start at 9:00 a.m. with group check-in, including introductions and goal setting. A check-out will take place each day at 3:00 p.m. For in-person participants, the writing retreat includes free breakfast, lunch, and coffee/tea/drinks at Snyder Phillips.
Cost/Location:
- $25/per day for in-person attendees at Snyder Phillips
- Free for virtual attendees (Use group code M6TPRAS96RTSTWGYD3XK when selecting payment)
Optional:
For those who would like to make it an overnight retreat, you are invited to call the on-campus Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at (517) 432-4000 or the Residence Inn by Marriott East Lansing (nearest hotel to Snyder Phillips) at (517) 657-2875 to make those arrangements.
