Attention: Faculty, Extension and Academic Staff, Post-Docs, and Graduate Students
March 6 - 8, 2023
In person (Brody Cafeteria, Large Conference Room) or on Zoom
Thinking about new writing and publishing goals in 2023? Feeling unsure of how to make time for writing or feeling a bit stretched thin by your commitments? Then, this three-day writing retreat is for you!
Choose how to participate. You may participate Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday—register for one or all of the days. You can choose between in-person and virtual options; you can also go between formats. Throughout the retreat, there will be daily check-ins, check-outs, and when needed, consultations with staff from The Writing Center and University Outreach and Engagement. Connections will intentionally be built among the writers, so that even while you are writing your own pieces, you will feel like you are part of a supportive community.
Expectations:
You are expected to already have a writing project in mind and to bring along your own laptop, power cord, and writing materials. As much as possible, please try to protect this writing time. Past participants have cleared their schedules, put an out-of-office notice on their emails, and let their colleagues know that they will be busy those days.
Schedule:
The spring writing retreat will take place during the first three days of MSU spring break, March 6, 7, and 8, 2023. Each day at 9:00 a.m. will start with group check-in, including introductions and goal-setting. A check-out will take place each day at 3:00 p.m. For in-person Brody Hall participants, the Writing Retreat includes free breakfast, lunch, and coffee/tea/drinks.
Cost/Location:
$25/per day for in-person attendees at Brody Cafeteria, Large Conference Room
Free for virtual attendees via Zoom (information sent closer to event date)
Optional:
For those who would like to make it an overnight retreat, you are invited to call the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center (just across the street from Brody), on your own to make those arrangements at (517) 432-4000.
