Arts and Cultural Initiatives

This project is designed to document and present the diverse cultural expressions along “The Ave”—the Michigan Avenue/Grand River Avenue corridor that links MSU/EL with Lansing. This is a cultural economic development initiative that is designed to advance the vitality and livability of the Greater Lansing community. Plans include the creation of “nodes” of identity and creativity along the corridor and to foster improved collaboration between the campus, Lansing, East Lansing, and the larger Greater Lansing area. Improved wayfinding, public art programming, and enhanced understanding of the cultural assets of the area are anticipated outcomes. This is part of the Cultural Economic Development Plan that was developed under the leadership of the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.
