Julie Crowgey, CMP, is the event coordinator for the Office of University Outreach and Engagement at Michigan State University. Julie graduated in 2004 from Michigan State University with a degree in Hospitality Business and she earned her designation as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) in 2011.
Julie plans and implements events that range in size from five to over 600 attendees. She coordinates and assists efforts to plan and implement University Outreach and Engagement events, such as the Campus-Community Advisory Board Annual Meeting, and helps organize the MSU Science Festival, the Michigan Science Olympiad Annual State Tournament Awards Ceremony, and the annual World Usability Day (with Usability/Accessibility Research and Consulting).
Julie is an active member of Meeting Professionals International Michigan Chapter (MMPI) and has served as the director of monthly meetings, the chair of the Annual Education Conference, and joined the board of directors as the director of Education, July 1st, 2014 — June 30th, 2015. She is currently the vice president of Finance for MMPI. She also serves as the chapter administrator and treasurer for the MSU Chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and became a Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau Certified Tourism Ambassador in 2011.
Julie was recently named the Michigan Meetings and Events Magazine Up-and-Coming Meeting Professional and was inducted into their 2015 Hall of Fame. She also received the MMPI "Michigan's Finest Planner" and "President's Award of Excellence" in June 2015.
Professional interests include:
- Coordinating local, state-wide, and national conferences
- Organizing itineraries for visiting campus guests
- Planning off-site retreats and meetings
- Setting up event registration, creating name badges, and registration materials
- Developing event budgets
- Communicating event logistics such as: hotel guest rooms, meeting room set-up, publicity, catering, and audio-visual
