Josefina Lopez comes from a long line of migrant workers and is the first to receive a high school diploma in her family. Her first job was picking cherries in Traverse City. Since then, she has learned the importance of education and continued to learn. She has a degree in business management and has worked at MSU for the past 21 years.
Lopez says that Upward Bound is the best job she has ever held: “It is so gratifying to see the youth in our community grow into strong, intelligent, and confident adults. I have learned so much from them and continue to learn every day.”
